GERRY REME

Gerry Reme was born in New Jersey and started drawing as soon as he could hold a pencil. Always having a love for all things creative, he found himself drawing daily, taking classes to improve his skills, going to art museums, and doing research on art history. Currently, Gerry is a Visual Art Major at The College of New Jersey and is working towards earning his Bachelor's in Fine Arts. Although he is primarily a digital artist, he finds he has a deep interest in various artistic mediums.

Gerry takes inspiration from many things around him, including Pop Culture, music, and people. Finding beauty in the grotesque and strange, Gerry takes pride in having an unconventional, grungy art style. The morally gray nature of humans is a huge theme in his work and has been common in Gerry's stories, characters, and illustrations for years now. Drawing both horrifying and comforting, beautiful and ugly, Gerry has an interest in showing all parts of life, pretty or not. This led Gerry to draw and write stories with themes of horror, slice of life, and comedic aspects as well.

Being a young member of the LGBTQ+, Gerry finds representation in artwork very important. Having a diverse cast of characters with diverse stories, he finds it important for his viewers to have someone they can see themself in, and feel like their voices are heard. Gerry puts a lot of time and effort into not only the ways his character looks, but the way they interact with each other in the world they live in, as well as the stories behind each one and their goals and motivations.

Gerry is currently exploring the world of art and what it has to offer him. Wanting to learn as much as he can, he is discovering new mediums to create work that he can use to tell his story, and the stories of others too. Gerry hopes that someday he can work on TV Shows, Movies, Comics, or even work in galleries to display the work of others as well.
