Howdy Y'all!

If you are here, you most likely already know who I am but if you do not hello and welcome! It's nice to meet you. My name is Gerard but most people call me Gerry, I'm 18 years old and I am the Artist/Writer/Editor of "Pork, Wine, and Flies". This story has been in the works since around 2017, when I drew my main character, Alowishus, on lined paper in my notebook one day while I was bored in class. But where did I come from? How the hell did I even get to this point? Well, that's I guess why you are reading this so let me start at pretty much the beggining.

My Story

So one day... I was born, just like anyone else. I didn't rise out of a crack in the Earth from the depths of hell as the Devil's spawn like I tell my friends I did, I'm sadly just an ordinary man. Ever since I could hold a pencil, I seemed to want to draw, which... I wasn't good. I help my pencil in a fist and drew people who were just circles with lines as arms and legs. But trust me, NOBODY comes out of the womb a Picasso over here, I sure as hell didn't. So there I was, in my weird, small, crusty New Jersey town, sitting on my carpeted, dusty bedroom floor, crayon in fist, drawing whatever my brain could Imagine... which was usually dragons.

Everything used to be fine then, honestly. I lived life fine and chilled with my friends, my family, drew whatever interested me. For Christmas and birthdays I was always the kid to get those overly large (somewhat cheap, honestly, but only artists would know how cheap they truly were compared to other supplies) art sets full of colored pencils and weird, small-tipped markers. I would bring all my colored pencils to school and at recess I would sit and have drawing contests with my friends. I was pretty cool... well, not really, since all the other kids thought I was odd, but I did have a good few friends with similar interests in games and books and shows that encouraged me. So I kept drawing.

I got older and more cool eventually, so what does an older and more cool version of me decide to draw? My Little Ponies... not my proudest achievement, let's be real, but that at one point was my favorite show so that's what I decided I wanted to draw. Through the wonderful MLP Fandom, I learned many things. I was huge on playing Minecraft (still am but not as much, honestly), so I would join MLP related RP servers and RP as my favorite characters... I met a lot of fun people, some I still know today, and through them I started sparking an interest in RPing and therefore started to enjoy writing more and more. I RPed almost every single day, and started developing my own characters, drawing them, writing them, whatever I felt like. None of these characters or stories were good, but I have to admit, it did get me interested in creating.

I eventually got tired of ponies and my interests shifted more into enjoying comic books... although now I consider myself a huge DC comics and especially Batman fan, I was a huge fan of Marvel back in the day, especially Thor and Loki. I made some extremely cringey characters based on that whole entire fandom, somehow my Marvel fan characters got crossed with Doctor Who so they were also timelords... I dunno, but it was definitely cringe and the stories made no sense so I changed things up and destroyed THOSE characters.

I then had interest in youtube, and this got me somewhat interested in music. I watched a whole bunch of Youtubers, especially Rhett and Link and GMM, and I believe my friend told me about Twenty One Pilots which turned me into quite literally a little emo POS who was super annoying. I wrote a whole ass My Chemical Romance fanfiction that was 40+ pages long with size 11 font in google docs. That was possibly the worst thing of all... and no, you can not read it I will never share that with the public again. At least I was somewhat funny.

However, I did in fact manage to get a better taste in music. I knew I would be considered weird, however, I did in fact start enjoying the music my father had played for me many many times from a young age. I enjoyed Primus, a whole lot, and everything related- then I also had a very cringey System of a Down phase which I am not exactly proud of but the fact my music taste improved made me want to work harder on my characters I created. At that point in time, that's when I created Alowishus, Leslie, Jerry, and some other characters that will be featured in my comics. They used to be really bad, but working on them in the present was probably the best decision I ever made. At least they ain't terrible anymore.

So now, I found what I enjoy drawing the most. I grew up living in a somewhat crusty town, and grew up listening to pretty crusty music, and therefore I found my true calling to draw crusty redneck dilfs and edgy gore-y shit. It may be cringe, but at least I am free, and I plan on continuing even into the future. I will never stop being the yallternative son of a bitch I am.

And as I get older, I will learn other art mediums and work on other fun projects. It just feels good to get my art out there into the world.
